Happy Halloween!
New exhibition at Sempre, Stockholm
A series of illustrations of random things from all over the world.
Considering that Stockholm has recently experienced a total Taylor Swift craze with three concerts on May 17 through 19 why not celebrate with her alleged favorite cocktail, the French Blonde. It’s a summery blend of Lillet, Gin, Elderflower liqueur, pink grapefruit juice and lemon bitters.
As usual with cocktail history the origin is a bit murky. Even the year of creation is vastly different from one story to another. The French Blonde might have first been mixed at a Parisian bar in the 1920s. Inspired by the classic French 75 the bartender wanted to create a cocktail with a feminine twist, giving it the name French Blonde as the color of the drink resembles blond hair.
Another story is that it was made by a bartender in New York in the 1950s. Also in this version the inspiration came from the French 75 but the idea was to create a modernized version of the WWI cocktail by adding the elderflower liqueur.
This said, I have found neither any confirmation of these stories nor any early recipes of the French Blonde. Which takes us to the Difford’s Guide where you can read that the cocktail was actually first published in saveur.com in 2011, created by Caraline Bianchetto Chase. This might be the most plausible story of the three.
The glass is called Travasi and was designed in 2023 by Astrid Luglio.
By the way. Apparently Taylor Swift’s favorite color is purple, hence the sudden change of glass color.

For this series of original artwork we’re taking on the fabulous world of Italian pasta, one (or possibly more) from every Italian region, because all regions have their very own special pasta, fitting perfectly with their particular sauces. For instance Trofie from Liguria on the Italian riviera, that fits like a glove with the Pesto Genovese.
Easy to follow instruction videos how to make your favorite cocktails.
Almost since the start of the cocktail print project I have been asked when I will make it into a book and finally I’ve got an answer. It is happening now. I decided to make it into two separate books with 52 cocktails in each. One cocktail per week for a whole year. Or if you’d like to go about it another way, all of them are also attached to a date or at least a part of the year. Like the Blood and Sand for International Scotch Whisky Day (yes there is such a day, February 8) or a Zombie to celebrate tiki pioneer Donn Beach’s (a.k.a. Don the Beachcomber) birthday. Or why not make a Saketini, a cocktail created for the 1964 New York World’s Fair, on the date the fair opened their gates, April 22.
The book comes complete with the history of the cocktail, the story about the glass designer and the history of the date that the cocktail is in some way attached to.
An illustrated celebration of something as Swedish as IKEA and Smorgasbord. Fika is a coffee or tea break with friends, family or colleagues. All of the pastries are as Swedish as the term fika itself. Enjoy the prints with a cup of coffee, tea, cocoa or a soda.

You might not have either space nor the economy to buy an Italian design classic like Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni’s Arco floor lamp. You might not necessarily have any wall space to get a print from the Italy at Random Collection either. But you probably have a sofa, a bed or a favorite chair. What makes that relaxing space even better, well, a double sided throw pillow of course.
You can now get the Random Things Collection as a beautiful pillow to light up any space in your home or office, or vacation spot for that matter.

If you are visiting Milano Design Week and you are new to the city you might want to look like it isn’t your your first rodeo. Then here are some tips on what to drink during your aperitivo. One distinctly Italian aperitif every day from Monday to Sunday.
Being the last day of Milano Design Week why not end with a classic, the Bellini. Even though it wasn’t created in Milano it is as Italian as Leonardo da Vinci and it makes for a great celebration of a fantastic week of design.
The Bellini was created in 1948 by Giuseppe Cipriani at the world famous Harry’s Bar in Venice. The drink was named Bellini because its pink color reminded Cipriani of the toga of a saint in a painting by 15th-century Venetian artist Giovanni Bellini. Harry’s Bar first opened in Venice in 1931 and was a favorite hangout for Ernest Hemingway, Truman Capote, and Orson Welles. In 2001 Harry’s Bar was declared a national landmark by the Italian Ministry for Cultural Affairs.
