The “original iced coffee” might have been made by soldiers in the French Foreign Legion stationed in Algeria around 1840. The drink called “Mazagran” was made from coffee syrup, cold water and sugar and was later brought back to France. The Italian version, the caffè shakerato, is espresso shaken with ice. Served all over Italy during the summer months, usually in a martini glass.
The cocktail glass is one in a series of glasses called Calci Milanesi, inspired by Milanese architecture, and was designed by Agustina Bottoni in 2018.
