The cappuccino as we know it was first created in the early 1900s after the invention of the espresso machine in 1901. The name was borrowed from a similar type of coffee called kapuziner, popular in Viennese cafes in the 1700s as the coffee resembles the robes worn by Capuchin friars. Remember that in Italy it is considered a massive faux pas to order a cappuccino after 10 a.m.
The cup was designed by Roxanne Flick in 2016 and is called Purpur.
